Alys Rivers of Harrenhal

From Game of Thrones season 2 - season 6 I was involved in developing the castles for the world of george R.R. Martin. For me, Harrenhal was always the most exciting location in the books. Unfortunately, we had very little time during the series production. Basically, we did just 5 paintings that better describe the location. I had wanted to finish developing this castle for a long time.
Then came the pandemic. As with most people, many of my jobs went away as sets closed around the world.

I wrote to the co-author Elio M. Garcia Jr. of "The world of Ice and Fire" , if he would enjoy that we realize Harrenhal together as a complete castle. He agreed.
We dissected the texts of the books and gathered all the information that could be found about Harrenhal. Elio found old letters in which George wrote more details about Harrenhal that did not appear in the books. In fact, no comprehensive description of the castle exists. Always only fragments, which we now put together piece by piece. Like a puzzle.
In long detail work, the first sketch of the castle, true to scale with all its towers and halls was created. We worked for almost 6 months on the model as it can be seen today.
The castle became the basis for the pictures of "The rise of the Dragon".
